Welcome to my Gardening Blog!
My favorite plant is the Lilac Bush. My family has always had a lilac bush in the yard, for as long as I can remember. From my Grandparents garden, to my Great Aunt Mildred's farm, and so on to the farmhouse where we live today, our spring and summer nights have been filled with the sweet scent of lilac.
Lilacs became popular early in our country's history, being grown in the late 1700s, and were very popular in New England. They originally came from Europe and Asia, and were prominently featured in our earliest botanical gardens.
Lilacs have a strong floral scent that carries a long way, particularly at night, yet they only bloom for a few weeks each year, so one never really gets tired of the scent.
